Glitne is the producer of what might be the world’s finest and most sustainable Halibut, a Snow White Atlantic Halibut no less. Raised on the shores of the pristine Sognefjord in Norway using innovative land based raceways with flowing pure, ice-cold, crystal clear water pumped from over 300 feet deep within the Sognefjord.

Founded by a 3rd generation farmer of the Sognefjord, the largest, deepest fjord in Norway, Glitne Halibut are raised for 4-5 years in a farm built of all natural materials. Clean, mineral-rich water is pumped from a depth of 300 feet, creating an ideal “fjord on land” environment for halibut to thrive with year round availability.
Glitne Halibut’s innovative recirculating aquaculture system (RAS), which was recognized as a Monterey Bay Aquarium Green Best Choice, provides their fish high aeration and oxygenation of pristine ice cold water, pumped straight from the crystal-clear fjords some 100 meters down.
In the land-based race-ways, where the fish are raised, they can control every aspect of growing conditions, from temperature to what the fish are fed (alternative plant-based feeds) to how waste is disposed of—after removing pollutants, water is funneled back into the fjord.

Since Glitne Halibut fillets are sushi grade, they are excellent for raw or lightly cured utilization. The raw flesh is almost translucent making for stunning sashimi, crudo, and lightly cured applications.
