Microplastics in Seafood
The Hidden Threat of MicroPlastics in The Ocean
Globally, 60% of fish contained microplastics.
The majority of fish globally now contain microplastics. That’s the bad news. The good news is that you found the only seafood company in the world that tests for microplastics in every lot harvested, ensuring zero detectable levels.
Seatopia offers regenerative, traceable, and sustainable seafood from our farms to your table.
‘’We believe seafood should be a simple pleasure. Not a guilty one."
Microplastics in the Environment
Each year, millions of tons of plastic waste enter our oceans, where it degrades into microplastics. These particles are nearly impossible to remove and have been found in every corner of the globe, from Wild Alaska to the depths of the Mariana Trench to the Antarctic ice.
Microplastics in Oceans
Once in the ocean, microplastics are ingested by marine organisms, from the smallest plankton to the largest whales. Studies have shown that microplastics can cause physical harm and toxic effects in marine life, potentially disrupting entire ecosystems.
‘’We are what our food eats, and thanks to Seatopia the next generation of omega-rich, microalgae-fed farmed seafood can help us live more vital lives with mitigated exposure to heavy metals, microplastics, GMOs or antibiotics."

Microplastics in Wild-Caught Seafood
Alarmingly, microplastics have been detected in a wide range of seafood consumed by humans. Fish and shellfish often mistake these particles for food, leading to bioaccumulation in their bodies. This means that when we eat wild-caught seafood, we may also be consuming microplastics, along with the toxic chemicals they absorb.
